Another Lemko inspired piece exploring a completely different kind of prison. This one of the plague variety. I'm always haunted by reading tales of old sanitariums and the various experiments they put TB patients through. It's horrific, but something that I tried to color this design with. Like many sanitariums, this was designed high on a mountaintop with open windows for 'fresh air.' Because the patients are all ill of course, quarantine signs and symbols highlight the building. Moreover, the patients and the supplies arrive by zipline to limit exposure to the outside world. The smoke is generally always billowing from the building, burning the clothes of the new patients and perhaps,,,, well, I'm sure you can fill in the blanks.
